Best Caravan Boilers

If you have a static caravan and need a boiler there are a few options. In general the best fuel to use is LPG as it available in bottles and is cheaper than electricity and electric boilers.

At Boilerhut, we offer LPG boiler installations across the country. We’re able to help if you are looking for a new or replacement boiler. It is worth noting that most natural gas boilers can be converted or reconfigured to accept LPG.

Below are our top three best caravan boilers. They are all combi boilers so there is just one unit to install.

What is an LPG boiler?

An LPG boiler is a boiler that utilises Liquid Petroleum Gas as its fuel source; this is stored in an external tank ready to supply the boiler. Due to being 250 times denser as a liquid than as a gas, large quantities of LPG can be stored in a small space. This makes LPG perfect boilers for caravans.

LPG combi boilers are best suited to caravans as you don’t need a hot water cylinder. With an LPG boiler installation, you can have some of the lowest CO2 emissions available to off-grid properties – typically 20% less than the CO2 emissions of an oil boiler.

LPG boiler installation cost

The average annual cost for heating and hot water using LPG in the UK is £1,265, based on a household consuming around 11,500 kWh a year. This will be significantly lower in a static caravan due to its size.

This figure is derived by using the average cost of LPG across the UK in 2020 and then multiplying this by the amount of kWh used on average by a medium gas-energy user, according to Ofgem.

LPG boilers are slightly more expensive to run than oil boilers. However, LPG boilers are cheaper to install. In addition, oil tanks aren’t transportable and take up a lot of room. LPG bottles are large but can be moved.

LPG is also a highly efficient fuel so you get a good return on every unit of energy. By changing to a new A-rated LPG boiler, you could save anywhere between £200 – £600 per year.
