Whilst it comes in at a more competitive price than other Viessmann boilers, the Viessmann Vitodens 050-W is still equipped with Viessmann’s innovative technology and just the same as the other boilers in the Vitodens range, it has been awarded Which? Best Buy status every year since 2018.
Available in three outputs to suit various properties
The Vitodens 050-W comes in two different outputs – 25kW and 30kW and 32kW. We recommend the 30kW rated Vitodens 050-W for properties with up to 10 radiators and one bathroom, whilst we recommend the 32kW rated Vitodens 050-W for properties with up to 20 radiators with one or two bathrooms.
According to the SEDBUK rating, the Vitodens 050-W achieves 89% efficiency, which makes this an A-rated boiler.
Equipped with Viessmann’s patented Inox-Radial stainless steel heat exchanger
Key to the Vitodens 050-W’s efficiency and crucial to retaining it is Viessmann’s patented Inox-Radial stainless steel heat exchanger. This is a component utilised across all of Viessmann’s boilers and is largely what makes the 050-W stand out from the competition. The reason for this is that many other boilers at this price point utilise an aluminium heat exchanger.
Whilst aluminium heat exchangers allow for excellent performance initially and provide high heat transfer, over time they become more prone to corrosion from chemicals added to the system. Due to this, they cannot be used with softened water. With its stainless steel heat exchanger, the 050-W on the other hand features high corrosion resistance at a wide range of pH levels, does not require extra maintenance fluids and will simply last longer. To ensure this further, the heat exchanger in the 050-W has a 10-year warranty from Viessmann.
Easy operation
Operating the 050-W is made easy thanks to the new simple LED touchscreen display and ViCare app.
Whilst the 2022 model is compatible with Tado and Nest smart thermostats, the ViCare+ Climate Sensor Thermostat allows for effortless wireless control without the need for 3rd party devices. ViCare is the intuitive new system provided by Viessman that allows you to enjoy a smarter heating experience.
The ViCare app can be installed onto all android and IOS devices and instantly provides information about your brand new boiler and how to get started. You can store daily routines and set temperatures remotely from your phone to reduce energy bills and heat your home with full control.
ViCare is an optional addition for your brand new Viessmann Vitodens 050-W combi boiler. It is easy to install along with the new appliance and offers optimisation and convenience from the palm of your hand.
Weather Compensation
To increase its efficiency, the 050-W is equipped with weather compensation. Weather compensation works by a small temperature sensor being installed on the outside of the property, on a north-facing wall. This is then wired to the internal controls of the boiler. The weather compensation sensor will send information about the outside temperature to the boiler controller constantly, so that when the temperature changes outside, the boiler responds and starts to increase or decrease the radiator temperature inside your house to compensate. This can help save up to 15% on your fuel bills!
Not required with Smart Thermostats.
Built-in shock arrestor
Water hammer can be an issue with boilers at a similar price point to this one, however, this is remedied with the Vitodens 050-W’s built-in shock arrestor. This stops the loud rattling of water pipes every time a tap is opened in the property. This goes beyond just putting an end to the annoying noise though. By eliminating water hammer, major problems such as pipe collapse are also avoided.
Boiler Reset
As well as all these added benefits, the Viessmann Vitodens 050-W boiler is very easy to reset as well. Watch the short video below to find out how this can be done:
To reset your 2022 model Viessmann Vitodens 050-W, press the up and down temperature arrows for approximatley four seconds. A rotating bar will appear on the display, indicating that the restart process has been started.
All components manufactured in-house
All components used within Viessmann Vitodens 050-W boilers sold in the UK are manufactured in the same Viessmann production facility in Allendorf, Germany. This is a major positive for this boiler as Viessmann manufactures each of these components to effectively work together unlike competitors who buy in certain components in their boilers from third-party suppliers.
Wide availability of parts
When Viessmann first entered the UK market, parts were hard to come by in the UK. This was an area of weakness by Viessmann’s own admission. However, this has changed in recent years and parts are now widely available in all Plumbase stores across the UK, as well as many other plumbing merchants online and in-store.
