The patented stainless steel heat exchanger makes the Vitodens 200-W 30kW combi boiler both efficient and long-lasting. Viessmann put this heat exchanger in all their boilers, unlike some other manufacturers. When put up against aluminium, stainless steel is a far superior material.

Aluminium heat exchangers allow for excellent performance and provide high heat transfer. But, this performance will degrade over time, and stainless steel won’t. Aluminium exchangers become more prone to corrosion from chemicals added to the system. Due to this, they cannot be used with softened water.

The Vitodens 200-W features high corrosion resistance at various pH levels. It does not need extra maintenance fluids and will last longer than aluminium. To back it up, the heat exchanger in the 200-W has the same 10-year warranty from Viessmann as the rest of the boiler.

Easy operation

Operating the 200-W 30kW is simple thanks to the colour LED touchscreen display and ViCare app. The touchscreen can be placed either at the top or bottom of the boiler, allowing eye-level installation.

The latest model is compatible with Tado, Hive and Nest smart thermostats. But we wouldn’t recommend Hive for Viessmann boilers as it is not Open Therm compliant. So pairing a Hive and 200-W wouldn’t allow you to take full advantage of modulation.

Viessmann have their own smart thermostat too. The ViCare+ Climate Sensor thermostat and app are great products. We recommend the ViCare+ system because it will follow the boiler’s 10-year warranty. Like other smart thermostats, it allows daily routines, boosting, and temperature control away from home. It’s available for Android and iOS.

Although we can install Nest systems, their customer service isn’t great. So if the unit breaks you could be left without heating.

Weather compensation

To increase its efficiency, the 200-W is compatible with weather compensation. When set up right, this allows the boiler to adjust heat output based on the outside temperature. So, when the temperature drops outside, the boiler can turn on- earlier than an internal thermostat would. And it would modulate to its lowest power to keep a nice temperature in the home.

Smart thermostats are not required, though. Boilerhut includes an EPH Combipack 4 with installation.

Built-in shock arrestor

The Vitodens 200-W 30kW combi boiler has a built-in shock arrestor. This stops the loud rattling and banging of water pipes when a tap or shower turns on or off.

No need for an LPG conversion kit
As it is equipped with a Lambda Pro Control Plus combustion controller, there is no need for an LPG conversion kit. The 200-W can automatically adapt to the properties of different gas types (natural gas, LPG, biogas) and will ensure consistently high energy efficiency.

Boiler reset

Like all modern devices, sometimes a boiler needs to be reset. The 200-W 30kW is very easy to rest. The Boilerhut engineer will show you how to do this once the installation is complete. Press the up and down temperature arrows for approximately four seconds. A rotating bar will appear on the display. This indicates that the restart process has started.

All components manufactured in-house

All components used within this boiler are made in Allendorf, Germany. This is Viessmann’s main Vitodens facility. This in-house production is key in keeping their premium product at a lower price.

Wide availability of parts

When Viessmann first entered the UK market, parts were hard to find. Viessmann addressed this in the mid-2010s. Now, all boilers and parts are available from most plumbing merchants such as Plumbase.
