Our thoughts:
The Worcester Bosch GB162 is a high quality, reliable and energy-efficient boiler. However, it does have quite a short warranty period, especially compared to Worcester Bosch’s other models.
This range comes in four sizes which will suit any large home or business – especially given the extra capacity that the cascading installation allows.
Efficient and powerful
The range goes all the way up to a 100kW model, so it is fair to say these are high-performance boilers. The Worcester Bosch GB162 has an energy efficiency rating of 93%, which is comparable to many combi boilers. Note that once installed you can optimise performance by making the most of the condensing feature to minimise heating water that won’t be used. Whatever the size of your property – you can ensure that your heating and hot water requirements will be satisfied.
You also have the option to integrate with LPG and solar technology with the GB162.
However, it should be noted that the efficiency of the Worcester Bosch GB162 won’t last forever, this is due to the heat exchanger utilised within the boiler.
ALU-Plus heat exchanger
The Worcester Bosch GB162 utilises an ALU-Plus heat exchanger, which as the name suggests is constructed from aluminium. Whilst this is precision-engineered to be lightweight, robust, allow for the rapid transfer of heat and to optimise heating efficiency. Unfortunately, this efficiency won’t be retained for the life of the boiler due to aluminium being prone to rust and corrosion over time from magnetite sludge and other chemicals, which will, in turn, decrease its efficiency at a much faster rate.
High kW output
For the price, the GB162 offers extremely high kW outputs of up to 100 kW designed for commercial properties. Speak to us if you need support in identifying which boiler would be ideal for your commercial or domestic space.
System boiler
The Worcester Bosch GB162 is a system boiler. This means it requires a cylinder, and this can mean higher installation costs.
A name you know
The Worcester Bosch GB162 is assembled in the Worcester Bosch factory in Worcester, UK. However, whilst you may know the Worcester Bosch name and the heritage of this manufacturer both before and after its acquisition by the Bosch Group, we should be clear that this is a boiler that is filled with components from many different manufacturers. The issue here is that these components aren’t optimised to work together in the same way that the components in boilers made completely by one manufacturer are.
Plastic parts
Whilst we are discussing the components within the boiler, another downside to the Worcester Bosch GB162 is many of the parts utilised within it are made from plastic and are more prone to perishing than boilers containing higher quality brass parts.
