The Worcester Bosch Greenstar i Gas System Boiler is a model from the company’s Greenstar range. It is a little different though – as a system boiler it works like a regular conventional boiler but takes water directly from the mains supply to retain in a storage cylinder.

Our thoughts on the Worcester Bosch Greenstar i Gas System Boiler
The Worcester Bosch Greenstar i Gas System Boiler comes in a range of sizes – for smaller homes, all the way up to larger homes with more than 1 bathroom.
This range comes in four sizes which will suit any household. This style of boiler can generally provide more hot water than an equivalent standard combi-boiler.
Reliable choice
The Greenstar i Gas System Boiler comes from Worcester Bosch and is really centred on reliability and energy efficiency. This boiler works by heating the water in your central heating system as well as by storing hot water in a domestic cylinder. When it comes to using water – it means that hot water is always available when you need it, even from different parts of your home simultaneously.
This boiler has an A ErP rating and operates at 94% efficiency – so your energy bills will initially stay low with this model.
Unfortunately, though, this efficiency won’t last forever. Whilst you will be able to benefit from excellent energy efficiency for a while, the components used within this boiler means they will be greatly affected after prolonged use. The biggest reason for this is because of the aluminium heat exchanger.
Aluminium heat exchanger
An aluminium heat exchanger will offer great efficiency when the boiler is first installed. However, after a few years aluminium will start to corrode and corrosion equals a drop in efficiency. So whilst this boiler offers up to 94% efficiency from installation, this won’t last forever.
It should be noted that the heat exchanger is covered by the guarantee but once out of warranty the repair costs for this will be costly.
Engage with new technology
You can use the Greenstar i Gas System Boiler via the conventional programmable control panel or thermostat. You also have the option to upgrade to a smart energy system which can improve the energy efficiency of the boiler even further. This model is compatible with the Worcester Bosch smart energy management system – EasyControl – as well as with other brands such as Nest and Tado. Smart thermostats integrate with your mobile device so you can control your heating wherever you are.
Assembled in Worcestershire
The Worcester Bosch Greenstar i Gas System Boiler is assembled in the Worcester Bosch production facility in Worcestershire. However, whilst it is assembled in Worcester, it is made up of many components from third party companies. This is a negative as there are equivalent boilers at a similar price point that utilise components that are all made in-house. The benefit from these competitors is that their components are designed to work efficiently with each other.
Wide availability of parts
The parts for this boiler are widely available though. If you need a replacement item you can find spare parts at Screwfix, Plumbase and other plumbing merchants both in-store and online.
Plastic parts
With that said, a downside to the Worcester Bosch Greenstar i Gas System Boiler is that many of the parts utilised within it are made from plastic and are more prone to perishing than boilers containing higher quality brass parts.
